A Load Switch is an integrated power-distribution control IC that connects or disconnects a power rail to a load in a controlled, protected, and low-loss manner.
It is typically implemented using a low-RDS(ON) MOSFET (usually P-channel or back-to-back MOSFETs) plus control, protection, and timing circuitry.
Primary purpose:
Safely control power delivery to downstream circuits
Prevent inrush current, voltage droop, and fault propagation
Enable power sequencing and system-level power management
